Economic Relations between Italy and the Mediterranean Area
The Report contains unpublished contents and trend prospects and organises and develops the main research works carried out by the Permanent Observatory on the Economic Relations between Italy and the Mediterranean area. The articulation of the Report 2012 follows that of last year’s Report, that is, a division into three parts that correspond to three macro topics: trade relations; finance; transport and energy infrastructures. In the first part, Economy, trade and enterprises, a macroeconomic scenario of the MENA region and a framework of trade exchanges with Italy are outlined, together with an analysis of the Italian entrepreneurial presence in Turkey. The second part, Finance and Mediterranean Sovereign Wealth Funds investments, investigates the financial structure of the countries in the MENA region, focusing specifically on the Turkish banking system, and the Mediterranean Wealth Funds investments in Europe and Italy. The third part, Sea transport and renewable energy sources, takes into consideration the trend of maritime flows and the prospects of renewable energy sector in the Mediterranean.
